Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix being made easier
I’m certain there are a few citizens reading that who remember when Street Fighter 2 first made an appearance in their local arcades, or the release of the game on the SNES. Those same public may additionally be looking forward to the HD Remix of the game planned for release on Xbox Live and the PS3 Network.
If you are looking for a nostalgia trip, however, you may be in for an easier moment playing the game that day round. The U.S. Capcom blog has published an entry from a guest writer called David Sirlin, who happens to be overseeing the design and gameplay of Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. In the entry, Sirlin puts his number one goal for the game as, “Make the game easier to play–more inclusive rather than exclusive.”
His reasoning behind making the game easier is that players find it hard to do special moves like the dragon punch, so those moves are now easier to perform. The easier moves therefore put the emphasis back on decision-making during a fight and using the right moves at the right duration.
Street Fighter 2 cannot be called anything other than a massive success, seeing sustained sales in all its guises and re-releases by the years. To mess with the formula is a dangerous proposition, but it looks like
Only playing the game will decide whether the developer succeeded or losed out, and reviews and reader commentary will let us know soon after the game’s release whether it did.
