Capcom announces Street Fighter IV

Those of you who follow the news stream coming out of Capcom religiously will have noticed a countdown appearing on their community website earlier that week for a big announcement. The countdown has now been replaced with news that Street Fighter IV is in development.

There are very few details as of yet, but a media event currently being hosted by Capcom may reveal more before the weekend is by. A video has been released to promote the announcement, but there is no in-game footage, just a nicely done animation of Ryu and Ken fighting.

The Street Fighter name still carries with it a lot of weight even after all that instance. By doing a new one now, Capcom has an opportunity to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to one of the best fighting game franchises. On top of that, the

company will get it in lovely HD.
